BAWAL MAMIESTA AT KUMAIN NG MAY DUGO?

BAWAL MAMIESTA AT KUMAIN NG MAY DUGO?

*
Q - Bawal daw pong mamiesta kasi “Don’t eat meat offered to idols?
Bawal din daw kumain ng Dinuguan?”
A -
1. Ang mga pista at sa Pilipinas at ang mga “patron saints” ng pista ay hindi one and the same as the religious feasts and “idols/demons” na tinukoy ni Paul sa Corinthians.
(Wag sapilitang ikonek!)
SO, MAGKA-IBA. Wag gawing isa.

The Jews considered foods to be spiritually UNCLEAN
BY 1. ASSOCIATION if offered to idols and eaten as part of religious ritual that usually also featured sexual activities.
“Bawal kainin” yung meat kasi para kainin yun, dapat sumali
sa idol worship and group sex or sex with temple prostitutes as way to be in union with the idol. Yes, may mga female and male temple “prostitutes”; ang ibig makipag-union with a god/goddess/idol ay, by substitution, makikipag-union/sex with a temple prostitute.
Sex with a temple prostitute to be in union with a god/idol kasi idolatrous sex na yun!
The Jews also considered foods to be spiritually UNCLEAN
BY 2. MANNER OF PREPARATION.
Dapat KOSHER or hindi binigti ang animal kasi may matitirang blood with the flesh: dapat igang-iga /completely drained out ang blood dahil sa:
Leviticus 17:10-13 ERV
“I will turn against those who eat blood… This is because the life of the body is in the blood….you must not eat blood.
---
At dyan pumapasok ang isyu about meat bought from the markets: Baka nai-offer sa temple bago itininda o baka galing sa
*
Ito ang issues nung panahon ni Jesus. Ang daming meats na suspects ---kaya hindi tuloy makain, while so many people were hungry and malnourished.
unclean foods issues.
ENTER JESUS.
Ephesians 2:14-15 ERV
… By giving his own body, Christ ENDED the law with its many commands and rules.
The CEV says “Christ DESTROYED the Law with all its rules and commands…”
*
JESUS DECLARED ALL FOODS TO BE CLEAN TO EAT.
Pampagaan ng buhay, pampalaya sa Law.
Matthew 15:11-20 ERV
It is not what people put in their mouth that makes them wrong (unclean). It is what comes out of their mouth that makes them wrong.”
Then the followers came to Jesus and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees are upset about what you said?”
Jesus answered, “Every plant that my Father in heaven has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. STAY AWAY FROM THE PHARISEES. They lead the people, but THEY ARE LIKE BLIND MEN LEADING OTHER BLIND MEN. And if a blind man leads another blind man, both of them will fall into a ditch.”
Peter said, “Explain to us what you said earlier to the people.”
Jesus said, “Do you still have trouble understanding? Surely you know that all the food that enters the mouth goes into the stomach. Then it goes out of the body. But the bad things people say with their mouth come from the way they think. And that’s what can make people wrong… These are the things that make people wrong. Eating …will never make people unacceptable to God.”

AFTER JESUS HAD RETURNED TO GOD, marami pa ring naging problems sa young church about Jewish teachings and traditions, including food issues ---kung ano na by then ang lugar ng Law sa emerging “Christianity”. Maraming dahil Jewish ang paniniwala at culture, ipinilit nilang i-import into Christianity ang maraming Jewish laws and practices especially circumcision ---and food!
Acts 15:5 ERV
Some of the believers in Jerusalem had BELONGED TO THE PHARISEES. They stood up and said, “The non-Jewish believers must be circumcised. We must tell them to obey the Law of Moses!”
• PHARISEES INFILTRATED THE JESUS “CHURCH” to-be
very early on, and insisted imposing the Law (THAT JESUS CAME TO DESTROY /END) on the just-emerging “Christian” faith.
AT SINABI NA NGA NI JESUS NA "STAY AWAY FROM THE PHARISEES", remember?
*
Acts 15:1-21 ERV
Then some men came to Antioch from Judea and began teaching the non-Jewish believers: “You cannot be saved if you are not circumcised as Moses taught us.” (RE-ENTER MOSESNESS!)
Paul and Barnabas were against this teaching and argued with these men about it. So the group decided to send Paul, Barnabas, and some others to Jerusalem to talk more about this with the apostles and elders.
5 Some of the believers in Jerusalem had belonged to the Pharisees.
(AYAN, ENTER THE PHARISEES SA
CHRISTIAN CHURCH!)
They stood up and said, “The non-Jewish believers must be circumcised. We must tell them to obey the Law of Moses!”
(BALIK- MOSESNESS /PHARISEENESS)
6 Then the apostles and the elders gathered to study this problem. 7 After a long debate, Peter stood up and said to them, 10 “So now, why are you putting a heavy burden
(MOSESNESS /PHARISEENESS)
around the necks of the non-Jewish followers of Jesus? Are you trying to make God angry? We and our fathers were not able to carry that burden. 11 No, we believe that we and these people will be saved the same way—by the grace of the Lord Jesus.”
13 When they finished speaking, James said, … 19 “… we should not make things hard for those who have turned to God from among the non-Jewish people. 20 Instead, we should send a letter telling them only the things they should not do:
Don’t eat food that has been given to idols.
This makes the food unclean.
(NA-CANCEL ANG TEACHING NI
JESUS THAT “ALL FOODS
ARE CLEAN AND MAY BE EATEN.”)
Don’t be involved in sexual sin.
(SEX IN TEMPLE WORSHIP ang
context.)
Don’t eat meat from animals that have been strangled or any meat that still has the blood in it.
(NA-CANCEL ANG TEACHING NI
JESUS:
BALIK-LEVITICUS, BALIK-LAW!)
21 They should not do any of these things, because there are still men in every city who teach the Law of Moses. The words of Moses have been read in the synagogue every Sabbath day for many years.”
(AYUN ANG REASON: MOSESNESS
pa rin!)
NAGTAGUMPAY ANG INFILTRATION
AND INFLUENCE NG PHARISEES
OVER THE YOUNG CHRISTIAN
CHURCH!
NA-CANCEL SI JESUS /ANG
JESUSNESS.
NAGPATULOY ANG
FOOD/JEWISHNESS /PHARISEENESS
ISSUES.
NAG-BACK SLIDE ANG
CHRISTIANITY TO MOSESNESS.
(And the backslide continued in the
following 2K years of Christian
history---until now, 2023.)
LET's LOOK AT
1 Corinthians 10.19-31 ERV PAUL TEACHES:
19… an idol is nothing, and the things offered to idols are worth nothing.
• “BALE-WALA /HINDI ISYU ANG FOOD OFFERED TO IDOLS.
.: OK LANG KUMAIN NITO.”
20 But I am saying that when food is sacrificed to idols, it is an offering to demons, not to God. And I don’t want you to share anything with demons.
TAPOS BIGLANG OFFERED TO DEMONS NA ANG SAME FOOD OFFERED TO IDOLS?
23 “All things are allowed,” you say. But not all things are good. “All things are allowed.” But some things don’t help anyone. 24 Try to do what is good for others, not just what is good for yourselves.
• “PERO SASABIHIN NYONG ALL THINGS ARE ALLOWED NAMAN, SO WHY NOT
EAT?
OO NGA, ALL THINGS ARE ALLOWED, PERO HINDI NAMAN LAHAT NG ALLOWED AY USEFUL. MERONG MGA HINDI USEFUL SA IBA.
SIKAPING GAWIN KUNG ALIN ANG MAKABUBUTI SA KAPWA, HINDI LANG SA SARILI.
IOW: KAHIT ALLOWED NAMANG KUMAIN NYAN, KUNG HINDI MAKABUBUTI SA IBA ANG PAGKAIN NYO, WAG NA LANG.”
25 Eat any meat that is sold in the meat market. Don’t ask questions about it to see if it is something you think is wrong to eat. 26 You can eat it, “because the earth and everything in it belong to the Lord.”
• BIGLANG EAT ANYTHING NA NAMAN. “LAHAT NAMAN AY GAWA NG AT GALING SA DIOS.”
27 Someone who is not a believer might invite you to eat with them. If you want to go, then eat anything that is put before you. Don’t ask questions to see if it is something you think is wrong to eat.
• “EAT NA LANG NANG EAT.
KAHIT UNBELIEVER ANG MAG-INVITE, KAININ ANG ANUMANG IHAIN NILA.”
28 But if someone tells you, “That food was offered to idols,” then don’t eat it. That’s because some people think it is wrong, and it might cause a problem for the person who told you that. 29 I don’t mean that you think it is wrong. But the other person might think it is wrong. That’s the only reason not to eat it.
• “KUNG MAY MAGSABING DON’T EAT IT KASI OFFERED TO IDOLS
(SA PANINIWALA NYA AY BAWAL OR BAWAL PA RIN, PERO HINDI
SA PANINIWALA MO) WAG MO NA LANG KAININ KASI BAKA DI MAINTINDIHAN NUNG NAGSABI (NA PUEDE NAMAN TALAGA)
---AT MA-OFFEND SYA. YUN LANG ANG REASON NOT TO EAT,
HINDI DAHIL BAWAL TALAGA; CONSIDERATION LANG SA MABABAW ANG FAITH.”
My own freedom should not be judged by what another person thinks. 30 I eat the meal with thankfulness. So I don’t want to be criticized because of something I thank God for.
• TAPOS BIGLANG “MAY FREEDOM AKO AT DI AKO DAPAT I-JUDGE DAHIL SA INIISIP NG IBA. NAGPASALAMAT NAMAN AKO, SO AYOKONG MAPULAAN SAPAGKAIN NG IPINAGPASALAMAT KO NAMAN SA DIOS.”
31 So if you eat, or if you drink, or if you do anything, do it for the glory of God.
• “GAWIN MO NA LANG KUNG ALIN ANG GLORIFYING TO GOD:
WAG NA LANG KUMAIN KUNG MAY MAO-OFFEND.
1 Corinthians 8 ERV
1 Now I will write about meat that is sacrificed to idols.
4 So this is what I say about eating meat: We know that an idol is really nothing in the world, and we know that there is only one God. 6 ...and he is our Father.
• “IISA ANG DIOS. WALA NAMAN TALAGANG EXISTING DIOS-DIOSAN.”
1 Corinthians 8.7 But not all people know this. Some have had the habit of worshiping idols. So now when they eat meat, they still feel as if it belongs to an idol. They are not sure that it is right to eat this meat. So when they eat it, they feel guilty.
• “PERO HINDI ITO MALINAW SA LAHAT, LALU NA SA MGA NASANAY NA MAY IDOLS /GODS SA PANINIWALA NILA.
PAG ANG MGA GANITONG TAO AY KUMAKAIN NG FOODS OFFERED TO IDOLS, naiisip pa rin nilang polluted yung food. NAGI-GUILTY TULOY SILA.”
1 Corinthians 8.8 But food will not bring us closer to God. Refusing to eat does not make us less pleasing to God, and eating does not make us closer to him.
1 Corinthians 8.9 But be careful with your freedom. Your freedom to eat anything may make those who have doubts about what they can eat fall into sin. 10 You understand that it’s all right to eat anything, so you can eat even in an idol’s temple. But someone who has doubts might see you eating there, and this might encourage them to eat meat sacrificed to idols too. But they really think it is wrong. 11 So this weak brother or sister—someone Christ died for—is lost because of your better understanding. 12 When you sin against your brothers and sisters in Christ in this way and you hurt them by causing them to do things they feel are wrong, you are also sinning against Christ. 13 So if the food I eat makes another believer fall into sin, I will never eat meat again. I will stop eating meat, so that I will not make my brother or sister sin.
• PERO KUNG DAHIL SA PAGKAIN MO NG FOODS NA GANYAN AY MA-OFFEND ANG MGA TAONG KULANG ANG PANG-UNAWA NA PUEDE NAMAN TALAGANG KAININ YAN ---MAGKAKASALA KA SA KAPATID NA MAHINA ANG PANANAMPALATAYA SA KALAYAAN KAY JESUS NA KAININ YAN ---AT NAGI-GUILTY TULOY.
(PERO KUNG WALANG MAO-OFFEND, EH DI KUMAIN?)”
• Ang teachings ni Paul on foods offered to idols ay may context: the ritual worship to gods in Corinth featuring offering foods to the gods and then eating/sharing the food in a religious feast, usually involving sexual activities.
• And, at best, the teaching is social-ethical in nature and purpose ---paano makibagay sa sa mga taong bago o mahina pa lang ang faith in God’s grace and freedom in Jesus ---mga taong baka ma-offend, kahit hindi naman sila dapat ma-offend dahil actually ay puede naman talagang kainin yung food, kahit pa nga offered to idols.
• Ang pag-apply nito ay dapat personal, according to conviction and conscience. Hindi ito hard-core pagbabawal.
