Q - What can you say about the combined Jewish - Christian "Messianic" beliefs?

Make sure the Christian side is not confused.
Ask them and be sure to get a clear answer IF the Messiah they are waiting for is one and the same as the Jesus Christ of Christianity?
Are they waiting for the (second) coming of the same Jesus or are they waiting for the first coming of another distinct person, THE Messiah of the Jews (who did not and still do not believe in the Jesus Christ of Christians).
It is important to clarify if they believe in and refer to THE SAME person/ messiah
